Product Bulletin Date: March 2, 2015

Subject: EOS for Security Management System (SMS) v3.6.0 and v4.0.0.

Summary: With the introduction of the SMS H3 and SMS H3 XL, SMS hardware appliances based on the H3 and H3 XL platform require a minimum software version of SMS 4.2.1. All SMS H3 hardware appliances will be delivered with SMS 4.2.1 installed. SMS 3.6.0 is currently installed on all previous generations of SMS hardware appliances. End of sale of these models has been announced. Please reference Product Bulletin #1041 for more details on the end of sale announcement for the previous generations of SMS hardware appliances.

Product Migration Options:
TippingPoint recommends that SMS customers upgrade to the most recent SMS release, currently SMS v4.2.0 at the time of this product bulletin. Customers with active support contracts will continue to receive support from TippingPoint through the end of the support contract period for supported software and may download current SMS software releases from the TippingPoint Threat Management Center (TMC).

End of EngineeringThe End-of-Engineering (EOE) date is the end of the period during which TippingPoint will support software releases with maintenance releases, bug fixes, workarounds, or patches for critical bugs. When software reaches the EOE date, it will no longer be actively maintained by the Engineering team.

End of SupportTechnical Support is provided by the TippingPoint Technical Support group. Support will be provided for hardware products for at least three years after the End of Sale date. During this period, Technical Support will provide phone and email support, will communicate bug fix requirements to engineering before EOE, and will attempt to provide workarounds beyond the EOE period. For software releases, technical support will be provided for one year after the EOE date.
